Serbs in San Diego

Serbs began migrating to San Diego after World War II, and today the Serbian population in the area stands at approximately 7,500. Serbs form a lively and active community. They are dedicated to preserving their cultural heritage and traditions, evident through the existence of a Serbian Cultural Center in San Diego and two Serbian Orthodox Christian churches - St. George and St. Petka. Two folklore dance groups , Avala and Morava, are showcasing the rich Serbian cultural traditions through captivating performances. The Serbian community in San Diego actively engages with the broader society, participating in local events and fostering cultural exchange. Their presence and contributions enrich the multicultural fabric of the city, making them a valued and vibrant part of San Diego's diverse community.

Fun fact: In San Diego, there is a street named Serbian Place, further highlighting the recognition and integration of the Serbian community within the city.
